Matt & Kasi's were married on Feb 1, 2012. It was a simple, small, very pretty wedding in a little country church. The date Feb. 1 has been significant in their lives; their first date, the proposal, now the wedding!

Congratulations Mary Beth!

Congratulations to Mary Elizabeth Nix (daughter of Karen Thompson Pfeiffer)! On September 5, 2010, Mary Beth graduated, with honors, from ITT Technical Institute with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Information Technology Computer Network Systems. I'm including a picture which shows just a little bit of the excitement of the evening. Nana, Mom, brothers (David and Jon), Aunt Kim and Uncle Randy and many of her friends were on hand to help her celebrate. We're proud of you!

McDaris Reunion 2010

On Saturday, September 11, 2010, Sixty Two people ranging in age from 18 months to 83 years gathered at the Ridgedale Baptist Church Playground for the twenty fifth annual McDaris Family Reunion. It was a tremendous success. My prayer for nice weather was answered. It was perfect (mid eighties, low humidity).

Many thanks go to a lot of people for the success of this reunion. Debbie and Doug Goode (Bettye McDaris’ son and daughter-in-law) for arranging the location; Terry and Kathy Dreger, Bill and Valerie Lyle, Sarah Lyle for all their help in planning the decorations, setting up the tables, cleanup, etc. And a special thanks to Sarah Lyle for having the beautiful blessing as we all held hands and sang our daughter-in-law, Kathy’s New York version of “The Lord is Good to me.” And many thanks to all of those who brought the great food, I think we had enough to feed another 62 people. Everything was delicious.

The biggest hit of the day was the Golf Cart that Doug Goode brought and rode the smaller children around the playground. Also, thanks go to Glenda McDaris Thompson for working so hard on the McDaris’ Girls Cookbook. She spent many hours coordinating this book and getting it together. We also need to thank her for keeping the address book current.

On October 6, 2009, Bill and I had the privilege of attending Roswell High School for our granddaughter, Sarah Lyle's, induction into the National Honor Society. It was very exciting to see so many young people lighting a candle, knowing how much hard work and dedication to study had gone into this achievement. We're proud of you Sarah!

THE MCDARIS FAMILY REUNION...
...was held on Saturday, September 19th, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at the Ridgedale Baptist Church gymnasium (because of the bad weather we were able to move from Camp Jordan, our original site, to the church by the help of Debbie and Doug Goode.) This turned out to be a great location for all.

Fifty-seven people attended (ages 90 years to 6 months.) There were eleven toddlers and infants present. I must say they kept us old folks on our toes. Rob and Sudi McDaris and their children traveled the farthest distance from Simpsonville, South Carolina. Others came from Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Many thanks to all of those that brought food. It was wonderful. What a great opportunity to reminisce with old and new members of the McDaris Clan. Thanks to Glenda and her family for sponsoring our gathering this year. Next year it will be sponsored by Geri and her family. Hope to see everyone in September 2010.

Mary Beth Nix - Pool Tournament in Las Vegas

"Johnny Capps and Mary Beth Nix of Birmingham, Alabama, play on the 9-Ball team, "That's How We Roll". While this was Johnny's fourth time out to the National Team Championships it was Mary Beth's first. They have been concentrating on pool for now, not going out and seeing too much else of Vegas. Mary Beth says it has been fun getting out here. She got nervous on Friday, but feels that it was just first match jitters. Their team consists of common friends who got together to play pool." Pictures and text taken from interview and actual competition at the National Championships.

The team from Bumper's in Hoover, Alabama, won the Birmingham City Tournament earlier in the summer giving them the opportunity to compete in Las Vegas, Nevada, in August. The team did not win in Vegas, but had a great time.
